mom

Dear loved ones,

Just wanted to give a follow-up report about Mom. My siblings report that she is walking with the aid of a walker, and is expected to leave rehab on Tuesday. She will be staying with my sister in Illinois, at least for a few weeks. However, they're considering moving her there permanently. The main issue seems to be her forgetfulness, which we've been noticing has been getting worse for the past two years. Thanks for all your prayers.

We're busy with our classes and enjoying very much teaching again. We've been plagued a bit with jet lag, but have managed to meet all obligations; and I even had time for a little gardening yesterday. We had our first guest over last night for supper--a visiting counseling teacher, Lynn Rhodes. We drove to a church 2 hours away this morning. We want to get to know all the churches in the country, as well as try to promote good relations between ACC and the local churches. We have very few Swazi students at ACC.

Blessings until next time. Love, Janet

Home Sweet Home

Hey, it's Thursday afternoon here in Swaziland.  We made it home safely yesterday before 4 p.m.  We had a great visit with Chris and Casey and the kids.  We didn't have any problems coming from Cambodia to Swaziland and all our bags made it safely.  We found everything in good shape here.  Today we taught our first classes and that went well.  We had a great night of sleep last night.  So all is well on the home front.  Thank you so much for the good times we had with you.
More later.  Be blessed!

We are in Cambodia

Hello All,

troubles

Dear Loved Ones,

The nightmare, that everyone who ever flies, dreads, finally happened to us; guess it was just a matter of time, considering how often and far we fly. As we started out over Canadian airspace last night, our pilot came on the intercom to tell us that we had engine trouble and we were going to turn around and land in Boston. (That flight had originated out of Chicago.) They arranged for us to stay at the Hilton hotel at the airport, so had very nice accommodations; but they didn't do us much good, as Fielden was on the phone from 1:30 to 3:00 trying to get our flights rerouted. He finally gave up and we slept until 6:30, then began trying again. We were simultaneously trying to get in touch with our son Chris in Cambodia, but not getting any answer on his phone. We finally got another number from their website and got Casey; she told us that Chris' phone had been stolen, and their internet wasn't working at home. Oh the wonders of modern technology!!

re mom

Dear Loved Ones,

I'm happy to report that Mom came through the surgery with flying colors. She's now eating her supper, the first food she's had in about 30 hours. The nurses say she will be expected to actually get out of bed tomorrow. She's to be in the hospital through Sunday, then move to rehab on Monday. Thank you all for your prayers on her behalf. It's been a stressful two days, but the worst is over, though she has some hard work ahead. We are going to Jonesboro tomorrow and then Memphis on Saturday to make our scheduled flight to Cambodia. Sandra is here and our other siblings, Tom and Ruthie, will be spelling her as they're able. Our daughter Kathryn is coming tomorrow morning.
