Africa Institute of Marriage and Family

Dear loved ones,

We received a telephone call this morning: our daughter Martha Smith
had delivered her fourth son, Micah Timothy, the night before--Saturday
night, 15 May. They are in the States--Fort Worth, Texas, with Martha's
brother, Jeffrey Allison. Martha and Jeremy are missionaries in
Northern Mozambique. We have plans to meet with all of our children in
Branson mid-June, including our son Chris and his family, who are
missionaries in Cambodia. We look forward to a joyful reunion at that
time, to getting acquainted with our new grandson, and anticipating the
birth of another grandson in July--Chris and Casey are planning to
deliver in Huntsville, Alabama, home to Casey.

Work here at ACC is going well. We're on the home stretch now, with
just two weeks of classes remaining. Then three days after finals are
over, we are to fly from Johannesburg to the States. See our furlough

I'm sorry that we don't have all the phone numbers for you. My
electronic address book bit the dust recently, and I lost all our
numbers and addresses. However, I hear that the White Pages work magic
for those who have readily available internet.

This furlough will actually be a bit shorter than usual, because we
were in the States just last summer. Therefore, we won't manage to
visit all of our supporters. However, we will be in touch
electronically from time to time, and hope to see the ones we miss next
time. We planned an earlier one this time, because of the births of two
grandchildren due this summer (one already on the scene, the other due
in July--hence the skimpy schedule for July, not knowing exactly when
this one will make an appearance.) Both of those families are overseen
by the same church in Arkansas, and have coordinated their furloughts
now so that we can all be together on occasion. Thank you, Pleasant
Valley in Little Rock!

We will also be making a change in our oversight. Due to financial
difficulties on the heels of the economic downturn, Monmouth is no
longer in a position to oversee our funds. The Southwest congregation
in Jonesboro has enthusiastically taken over that role. They have been
long-time supporters. We will be informing all supporters soon when the
new system is running smoothly. In the meantime, Monmouth is continuing
to channel the funds sent. We'd like to express our deep appreciation
for all the years that Monmouth has faithfully handled our affairs,
especially Ashok Bruno; and we would like to express appreciation to
Southwest for taking the baton.
